She Was Looking for Answers. She Found Someone Who Cared.
Mariah never expected to be facing an unexpected pregnancy. In a moment filled with uncertainty, she needed more than information—she needed someone willing to listen.
When I saw the positive pregnancy test, I felt like my entire future was slipping away. Daniel and I had a plan. We were going to join the Navy together, go to boot camp together, build our careers side by side. I had already overcome a setback and was just weeks away from being cleared to leave. I had worked so hard. I was so close. When I started feeling sick during my training runs, I blamed stress. But the test said otherwise. I panicked.
I started researching my options. I even made an appointment at an abortion clinic. I don’t believe abortion is right… but I was terrified. I felt like choosing life meant losing my dream. Daniel was already at boot camp. I didn’t know when I’d hear from him. I felt alone. I felt ashamed. I felt like everything I had worked for was over. Before that abortion appointment, I googled “abortion" looking for quicker results. I found Triad Pregnancy Care. I expected pressure. Instead, I found compassion. The nurse listened to me. She talked through my fears. She prayed with me. She reminded me that sometimes God’s plans look different than ours, and that different doesn’t mean worse.
Then I came back for an ultrasound. And everything changed. On that screen, I saw not just one heartbeat… but two. Twins. Hearing their tiny heartbeats filled the room. In that moment, my fear collided with something stronger — love. My mom was calling family before the appointment was even over. I was overwhelmed, but I knew one thing: this didn’t change my decision. I was choosing life.
Daniel later got to see the babies on FaceTime from Texas. We both cried watching them move on the screen. The dream we thought was over was simply being rewritten. The pregnancy wasn’t easy. I had complications and hospital stays. My mom moved to Texas to help. But on December 8th, our daughters were born — Sofia and Rosalinda. After some time in the NICU, we brought them home on Christmas Day.
Because of you, women like me, scared, overwhelmed, convinced our dreams are over, encounter hope...
Today, when I look at my girls, I can’t imagine my life without them. But I often think about how different my story could have been. If I hadn’t walked into that clinic first… If someone hadn’t listened… If I hadn’t seen those heartbeats… Your support makes moments like mine possible.
Because of you, women like me, scared, overwhelmed, convinced our dreams are over, encounter hope instead of pressure. Compassion instead of judgment. Truth instead of fear. Because of you, two little girls are alive today. Sometimes what feels like the end of a plan… is the beginning of a greater purpose. Thank you for being part of stories like mine.
